When Swiss engineer Hans Hilfiker designed a clock for the Swiss Railways train stations, a piece of design history was
created in the form of a simple, bold wall clock.
As an employee of the Swiss Federal Railways, Hilfiker appreciated the importance of the legibility and reliability of
such a product - features which are as relevant and necessary today, 60 years after this famous clock's first appearance.
Some 3,000 of these clocks on station concourses and platforms throughout Switzerland are a modern testament to this design
classic.
In 1986, Swiss watchmakers Mondaine took the iconic form of the railway clock and used it to develop the first of its
ranges of wristwatches. These watches are the famous clock in miniature and carry the Swiss reputation of excellent
watchmaking skills, punctuality and uncomplicated design.
